WHAT IS COVTA?
COVTA is a charitable, non-profit organization established in 2006 to assist in caring for and educating the orphaned and deprived people of Cambodia so that they can become productive and independent members of society. Many orphans come from poor and devastated families whose parents often abandon them because they cannot support them. These children have no one to help them and no one to be a role model for them. Many private organizations in Cambodia provide specific aid programs, but very few provide vocational training. Our objective is to fill this void
so that our students can become gainfully employed and become model citizens in their communities.

GOALS AND MISSION
COVTA will offer a condensed comprehensive vocational training program for these unfortunate Cambodian children in order to save lives and raise their standard of living.  We will accomplish the above by expanding outward from our headquarters in Phnom Penh.  But first we must continue to establish our name and purpose locally to get these children off the streets.  Our educational programs will be six months to one year, and once our students successfully graduate, COVTA will assist these students with our job placement staff.  Our staff and volunteers both in Cambodia and the United States are devoted to providing free, quality education for these children in order to:

  • Reduce the high levels of poverty,
  • Eradicate hunger and deprivation,
  • Eliminate homelessness,
  • Control serious diseases including HIV, for both the children and their elders.

COVTA’s PLANS

Presently COVTA relies on grants from various foundations for the bulk of its funding.  In addition, we conduct our own fundraising activities including, but not limited to live entertainment events.  We also have the support of many local companies.  Below is a listing of our current assistance network programs:

  • Grants—from private and public organizations or foundations both national and international.
  • Donations—money and/or equipment from private and public sectors.
  • Supporters—individual and business.
  • Teachers—primarily volunteers from local industry and college and university graduates from Cambodia and schools overseas.
